My Approach

I believe in realism: awesome portraits of real people doing real things. Over the past few decades we have seen portrait photography evolve from something classic, to stiff and posed, and then to cheesy and hokey, all with canned expressions and forced smiles. I believe people look their best when they are most comfortable, when they feel at ease and relaxed. My job is to help you document and capture those family moments by aiding you in the planning, creation and production of your portrait art, all while making an awesome experience. With that said, I believe some of life’s best memories are captured when there is a balance between laughter, comfort, joy and maybe even some crazy fun.

I know far too many people that put off creating portraits of themselves, their family or loved ones because of past experiences with photographers that weren’t so awesome. Do yourself a favor, create some family portraits before the time has passed and maybe too late. I believe in providing not only a totally awesome experience, but providing a greater return on your investment with the artwork that we will create. If you have any questions, I am always here to answer questions so never hesitate to ask!

If you can’t wait to work with us, here is a brief synopsis of our awesome experience in a nutshell:

FIRST APPOINTMENT: The consultation and planning. If you are ready to book your session (or even still have questions or are unsure), we will set up a consultation meeting at our gallery. There is no cost or obligation, just an hour to sit down, chat about you, your family, hobbies, family interests and then plan how to capture all of that good stuff. If you decide you want to go forward, we’ll pick a date, talk about locations, ideas, concepts, wardrobe, pets and anything and everything that will make your portraits unique.

SECOND APPOINTMENT: Once we have completed the consultation, we’ll have picked a date for your portrait session. This is where the real fun starts. Our family sessions are normally 2-3 hours and documentary sessions between 5-6 hours, but who’s counting the minutes? If we’re having a blast then we won’t stop! For more details about the actual session, visit our pricing page which goes over ALL of those goodies.

THIRD (and final) APPOINTMENT: We’re sad to see the process come to an end, but, this is probably the best (and most important) part. The last appointment we’ll schedule is the PRESENTATION. You’ll come back to the studio within 1 week after your session, and we’ll present your photographs on our large presentation system and ooh and ahh over all your awesome portraits. This is the first time you’ll see your photographs (except maybe a sneak peek will be shared on facebook or twitter). This is the final meeting, so during the PRESENTATION will will narrow down the many photographs to just your favorites, and then make any and ALL decisions in regards to your portrait order. It all takes about 1 to 1.5 hours to finalize your package, and we’ll be there to help you every step of the way. No pressure sales or gimmicky products like other studios, just pure artwork and awesome portraits to choose from. We try to make it as easy and awesome as possible. That’s it! in about 2 weeks you’ll be able to come back and pick up your order and start sharing your portrait goodies with your friends, family and pets (and whoever else you would like to share them with)!
