Emma & Danny

I had a super awesome time with a new couple I am working with, Emma & Danny.  They are getting married in January and it was time for their engagement photos, and a beautiful day it was!  We went to the La Encantada mall (big thanks to Melanie for allowing us on the beautiful property) and just had a blast there!  Beautiful place, hard to take a bad picture with a great couple and great location.  Anyways, the original plan was to go to the Zoo afterwards for some more photos, but it had closed at 4pm :(  For some strange reason I was under the impression that it stayed open later, but I was wrong I guess.  We left La Encantada mall and headed downtown for some more casual type portraits where we wrapped up the evening.

Super awesome couple, great locations, what more could I ask?  Thanks again guys, you are the best!  Here’s a couple teasers . . .

Nashville Wedding!

It’s hard to sum up the experience I had shooting on Saturday in Nashville, it was a totally different experience than I am used to.  Many of you may know (that have worked with me or have followed my work) that my style is a mix of traditional and photojournalistic.  I don’t like to control parts of the day, but I do like taking the time to get some cool, sexy and creative portraits of the bride & groom.  At the same time I like to let things just work themselves out, let the day unfold without me asking people or groups to “say cheese”!  Shooting with Evan Baines was different because I was not the one with all the pressure on my shoulders, I was just another photographer in the background with a different eye.

I will say that I love working under pressure . . . I like a little fire under my pants to keep me on my toes and to keep me thinking outside the box.  Saturday was a day full of photojournalistic approach with little intervention and guidance.  The couple was super relaxed and just relished in the joy and beauty of the day, so capturing awesome moments was a common occurance for the day.  Getting to see how another excellent photographer works is always awesome, and to that I can thank Evan for the great experience.

Out of the many thousand photographs we captured that day, here’s just a small small small few of my favs :)

Headin’ to Nashville!

I don’t remember commenting about this, but I get to head off to Nashville this weekend to shoot a wedding with a friend of mine, Evan Baines.  Evan is an amazing photographer whose work is simply top notch!  He asked me to come out and help him with this important wedding he has and I couldn’t be more delighted to go.  I’ve always wanted to travel to Tennessee and I’m looking forward to it.  I’ll be sure to spoil you all with some awesome wedding pics on my way back :)

Amber & Carraig guestbook . . .

I just got done with a super awesome engagement guestbook for Amber & Carraig, who are getting married this coming January in the Virgin Islands.  We shot their engagement photos in St. Croix back in May, and it was extremely extremely awesome (I don’t use the word extremely very often).

This is not my normal engagement guestbook, because this is going to be a 12×8 wide format, making each spread an amazing 24″x8″!!!  I can’t wait for this one, it’s going to be super duper awesome.  If you are looking for the best engagement books, look no further . . .

Jessica & Josh Wedding . . .

I want to thank all those who participated in Jessica & Josh’s Wedding this past Saturday at the Stillwell House!  I think it would be an understatement to say that it was a very special event, and one rockin’ party!  If you are coming here to view their photographs of the event, they will be online approximately one week after the wedding, so most likely by this coming Saturday!  To view them, go to: spencerboerup.com/proofs, and enter the password that was given to you.  You can email me for any more questions!  Thanks again . . .

BTW, here’s a quick sneak peak until they are all ready . . . (check back on Wednesday at the latest!!!)

Why the 4 week pause? It was worth it . . .

OK, since I haven’t blogged in about 4 weeks, many have asked me if I have contracted some infectious disease, fallen off the earth or just lost hope.  LUCKILY, none of the latter.  I’ve been preparing for and working on a project that was conceived around that same time . . . and it was such an adventure!  One of my absolute favorite couples I have worked with (and have become really great friends along the way) are Amber & Carraig.  I shot their engagement pictures back in May in the U.S. Virgin Islands on St. Croix.  WOW!  If you didn’t see their pics, do a quick search for them it’s worth it.

Anyway, Carraig’s birthday is today (HAPPY BIRTHDAY!) and Amber wanted to surprise him with something unique, very special and from the heart.  Supposively Carraig is the world’s best at surprises, so she had to do something cool.  Luckily I came to the rescue with a super cool idea for a photo shoot of just Amber, and one of Carraig’s favorite things, snakes.  Yes, Amber and a large 6ft Columbian Boa.  So, unbeknownsted to Carraig, we made plans for her to fly out from Texas, arrive a day before his birthday, do an awesome photo shoot with the snake, get it printed and framed in time for a grande surprise the following day.  Whew, I had a blast and it was absolutely one of the funnest shoots I’ve ever been on.  I’m glad it’s over now because it consumed a lot of my anxiety, I couldn’t wait for it to come :)  Thanks again Amber!!!

So, in case you jumped straight to here, this is what happens when you have awesome clients that let you take complete creative control to create something electrifying:
